Francassins – Round 1, Game 2 (Strong Start… But Not Fast Enough)#
Map: Battle for Plancenoit • Mode: 70% Domination • Result: Outpaced by Blue’s run
After a messy first game, I went into this one hoping for a smoother, more calculated approach. Battle for Plancenoit, 70% Domination, progressive cards, and unstable portals — plenty of ways to get it right or blow it completely.
I played a disciplined early game: multiple bonuses, solid stacks, and strategic spread. At one point, I was holding +10 in bonus income and feeling great. But in progressive 70%, the game doesn’t wait — and Blue timed their run perfectly while I held off a turn too long.

Game Breakdown#
Opening – Early Bonuses and Spread#
I started strong, picking up multiple bonuses and spreading my stacks across the map. With progressive cards and unstable portals, I focused on flexibility and board presence rather than overcommitting to any one region.
Mid-Game – Building for the 70% Run#
By the mid-game, I was holding +10 in bonus income and had a full set ready. I considered making my run for 70%, but decided to wait one more turn, hoping for a cleaner path and a bigger trade-in.
The Turning Point – Hesitation Punished#
That hesitation was my undoing. Blue saw the opportunity, cashed in, and swept the board for 70% before I could react. In progressive 70%, waiting for the perfect moment can mean missing your only chance.
Key Lessons from This Match#
- 🕰️ Timing is everything. In progressive 70%, sometimes you have to go before you feel ready.
- 💡 Early bonuses help, but don’t guarantee victory. Board presence and flexibility matter more.
- 🔄 Don’t wait with a full set if the board is vulnerable. Someone else will take the chance.
- 📈 Improvement over Game 1. More disciplined, but still learning the tempo of this format.
Final Thoughts#
A big improvement over Game 1, but still more work to do. In progressive 70%, the window to win is small — and you have to seize it. Next time, I’ll trust my instincts and go for the run when the opportunity appears.
