Francassins – Round 3, Game 1 (Uphill Battle on Plancenoit)#

Francassins Round 3 kicked off with Secret Assassin mode on Battle for Plancenoit—and it was rough right from the start.

Drawing Red with Purple as my target seemed manageable at first. But my early bonus attempt was blocked immediately by unlucky dice and enemy positioning, leaving me without critical income or board presence. From that moment on, I was playing catch-up.

Game Breakdown#

🧱 Early Game – Blocked at the Start#

My initial strategy revolved around securing a quick bonus to pressure my target, Purple. Unfortunately, the dice rolls didn’t favor me, and my early bonus was swiftly blocked. This left me without a stable income and forced me onto the defensive from the very first turns.

🛡️ Mid-Game – Survival and Patience#

Denied territory control, I shifted my goal towards survival—carefully stacking troops and avoiding drawing unnecessary attention. Purple stayed out of reach, always too strong or too far away, so my focus was simply staying alive until card sets became valuable enough to provide an opening.

⚔️ Endgame – Outpaced by the Tempo#

As card values ramped up, the other players pulled further ahead, their larger bonuses providing tempo I couldn’t match. Without a bonus, I lacked the troop strength needed to make an impactful move, and opportunities to eliminate Purple never materialized. Eventually, another player secured the win, ending my chances.

Key Lessons from This Match#

  • Adapt Quickly: If your initial plan is blocked, immediately switch to a survival mindset and prepare for late-game chances.
  • Focus on Survival: Without income, defensive stacking and cautious positioning can help you outlast early aggression.
  • Be Card-Ready: Progressive cards mean high volatility late-game—position yourself to capitalize on possible opportunities.
  • Learn and Adjust: Every match is a lesson; this one taught resilience and the importance of flexibility in strategy.

Final Thoughts#

This match didn’t go my way from the outset, but I adapted and stayed in the fight much longer than expected given the tough start. While I earned no points this round, it reinforced valuable lessons in flexibility and patience.
