Risk Grand Prix 2025 Finals – Week 2 Recap (Central America)#

1:58.
That was my fastest time.
And while it wasn’t fast enough to keep up with the top players, it got me to the final five in my first ever tournament finals.

Week 2 marked the end of my Risk Grand Prix 2025 run, but I walked away with a Top 5 finish, and more experience than I expected to earn.

A Finals First – And A Finish I’m Proud Of#

Some of the finalists were on another level—posting sub-minute times on a map that punished the smallest misstep. My goal was just to make it to the finals, and I exceeded that by sticking around for a second week.

I ran attempt after attempt, hoping for: - A good spawn (preferably in the corner somewhere) - Passive bots that wouldn’t ruin my setup - And miracle dice rolls

I got some way there, but not quite far enough.

Meta Discoveries After Elimination#

I already knew FPS and computer setup mattered, but the real surprise came after I was eliminated: bot personalities.

Here’s what I learned too late:

  1. Monitor refresh rate and FPS matter – Higher FPS speeds up AI turns and animations. Every frame counts.
  2. Bots have personalities – They only change when creating a new lobby, not when restarting. Some bots just grab a card. Others... ruin your run.

The other finalists were rerolling lobbies until they got favorable bots. I wasn’t.
That knowledge gap cost me—but it won’t next time.

Looking Back#

I finished 5th in the Risk Grand Prix 2025 Finals.
I was way off the pace of the frontrunners, but that doesn’t matter.

This was my first ever finals.
I hit my goal—and then some.

Let’s see what comes next.
