TheOfficialTourney 2025 – Round 1, Game 1 (Sietch Tabr, Fixed)#

This was my first match in TheOfficialTourney 2025, played on the Sietch Tabr map with fixed cards and alliances enabled. A small, aggressive map where early control usually means survival — but I got caught on the wrong end of the equation.

I didn’t prep much for this one, and it shows. No Round 1 set, awkward army placement, and a rough bonus path made things messy from the start. I’m out first. Time to regroup and come back stronger in Game 2.

Game Breakdown#

Opening – Game Start @ 00:55#

The opening was already awkward. Auto-placement left my armies split between weak positions, and I didn’t pull a set on Round 1. That meant no leverage and a scramble to a bonus while avoiding a card-block.

Elimination Begins – 09:36#

By this point, the board was outpacing me. Others had locked in multiple bonuses and started building large stacks while I was still trying to consolidate my position. I became the softest target on the map, and as such I could imagine everyone pinging each other to attack me.

The first elimination began. There wasn’t much I could do to stop it. I was knocked out early, with zero momentum and no real deterrents left.

Domino Effect – 12:35 to 21:23#

After I was out, the match kicked into high gear: - 12:35 – Second player gets picked off
- 15:36 – Third elimination in motion
- 20:15 – Fourth player removed
- 21:23 – Final elimination underway

From that point on, it was a clean-up job for whoever had the most troops and cards. The map favored fast consolidation, and the other players were quick to capitalize on their early gains.

There was an interesting skirmish between the last two players, and that was the highlight of the match.

What Went Wrong#

The early army spawn wasn’t ideal — I didn’t have a clean bonus option, and my troops were scattered between contested zones. But it wasn’t unwinnable. I went for Chapel Council and stretched left to avoid being card-blocked, which ended up splitting my position in two. By the time I secured my bonus, others had already stacked up multiple zones and were coordinating well.

No alliances, no diplomacy, no deterrent positioning. I gave the board no reason to keep me around. Once the snowball started, I couldn’t stop it.

I was behind in tempo, slow to adjust, and didn’t apply any pressure. That imbalance snowballed fast, and I became the easy first elimination.

Lessons for Game 2#

There’s no room for hesitation on tight maps like Sietch Tabr. My early-game passiveness and poor stack movement gave others all the leverage.

This tournament is just getting started. Game 2 (on Waterloo) is next — with portals in play and more flexibility.
