TheOfficialTourney 2025 – Round 2 (Battle of Waterloo, Fixed)#

This was my redemption match in TheOfficialTourney 2025 β€” and it delivered. After a rough start in Game 1, I bounced back hard on Battle of Waterloo with a chaotic yet calculated win. This wasn’t just a solid game... it was my first official tournament win, and it came against the best.

Yes β€” I beat Nise, the current #1 ELO player in Risk: Global Domination.

The match was brutal: True Random dice, Unstable Portals, Fixed cards, and blizzards everywhere. But I navigated it all β€” from early control to clean eliminations and an epic endgame run that required my full focus.

Game Breakdown#

Opening – Game Start @ 00:40#

I approached this one more cautiously than Game 1. I was happy to take an easy bonus, even if it was just a +2. Fortunately, my spawn was great β€” I grabbed a +2 and had a follow-up +3 lined up.

The dice were True Random, though… and I lost most of my stack just taking the first bonus.

First Eliminations – 17:19 to 26:00#

The first few kills came quickly β€” but they happened far from me. I kept things peaceful with my neighbor and expanded in the opposite direction to avoid conflict.

3-Way Clash Begins – 26:05#

Pink had been expanding aggressively and became the de facto threat. As they say in Risk, don’t become too strong or the rest of the board will unite β€” and that’s exactly what happened.

Pink tried to fight back, but it was a 2v1, and that meant game over.

But to my surprise (okay, not really), Yellow attacked me before Pink was even finished β€” clearly eyeing the win. Pink, seeing a way out of certain defeat, offered an alliance... and just like that, the two of us started tearing into Yellow instead.

Yellow hesitated, failed to eliminate Pink, and left him open. I cleaned up the kill and snagged four cards β€” which ended up being critical.

Endgame Phase – 40:05#

With another elimination under my belt, the endgame began. There was a bit of back-and-forth, but I kept gaining bonuses while denying Yellow any breathing room. Slowly, the match tilted fully in my favor.

Victory Secured – 50:43#

I closed out the game with the final elimination and took home the win.
This wasn’t just about placement β€” it was a statement. Duxaris is here.

Bonus Moment: Nise's Post-Match Reaction#

"I got the most points out of my group but got -14 ELO. I almost started crying."

What Went Right#

  • Stronger early game: Took better positions and didn’t overextend for weak bonuses. I guess luck played a part!
  • True Random awareness: Played cautiously, avoided unnecessary fights.
  • Perfectly timed trades: Every elimination gave me cards or control.
  • Stayed out of the spotlight: Let others clash while I lined up the sweep.
  • Confidence after Game 1: I knew I had to bounce back β€” and I did.

Final Thoughts#

This match makes up for everything that went wrong in Game 1.
I’m finally on the board β€” with a statement win β€” and I’m ready for more.
